I’m Andy, the founder of atom42. I was very sad to read that you’ve had such a bad experience working at the company.
We take great pride in our employee satisfaction, as well as our retention which is significantly higher than industry norms. In fact, of our 50 strong team, we have over 10 people who have been with us for more than 5 years, which is quite unusual.
That said, the above could well be contributing to the issues you felt... specifically your reference to there being an ‘inner clique’ who weren’t open to others. Our efforts to ensure this isn’t the case include:
- Welcome lunch for all new starters with people from all levels and all teams
- Monthly events for all, where different teams pick the event each month
- Fortnightly 121’s so anyone’s issues can be heard and remedied
- Twice yearly appraisals where we check in with all employees
On a personal level, there are close relationships across the business, I’ve enjoyed getting to know our more recent recruits who have got really involved in the business and in doing so, brought a wonderful energy and freshness to the wider team.
I’m genuinely sorry that despite our efforts, we clearly failed to provide you an environment where you felt connected and appreciated. We’ve had a chat with our more recent recruits to sanity check our understanding, and have taken comfort from their positive responses, although I appreciate this will do nothing to mitigate your frustrations.
