Pros
Terrific benefits, especially for Clerical and Technical employees. Noteworthy flexibility, despite senior leadership overreaching to potentially impact that perk. Presumably stable employment, despite federal funding concerns.
Cons
Our new senior director, joined last summer, came in and performed their best interpretation of the Budget Butcher, effectively removing all funding for community gatherings and morale-boosting connection opportunities. Her predecessor used to host monthly town halls for our huge department, and in the year since she took over, we have had three. Her messaging is always negative and noticeably disjointed in the few meetings that have actually taken place. Leadership plays favorites, pushing Pediatrics to the forefront of all discussions and preferences, the result being Child Study Center and Psychiatry feeling vanquished. Working at Yale can be a wonderful experience until you are saddled with poor leadership who cannot be trusted. But how does one trust someone in a leadership role who is so unabashedly ill-suited for that position due to their unmistakable insecurities that they never miss an opportunity to put on display?
