Pros
My coworkers were some the smartest, funniest, most passionate hard-workers I've every had the privilege of working with. (However, many of them have now left or been driven out of WLP.) The partner organizations around the world are led and staffed by some of the most impressive and incredible women I've ever met and the work those partner organizations are doing is genuinely inspiring and world changing. These partners and their brilliant work made this job as fulfilling as it could be. I genuinely wish them all the success in the world and love them with my whole heart.
Cons
Management at this organization is a complete failure. The issues started with an organizational culture of fear and abuse established by a long running founder and president, were let to grow and fester by a board of directors that are basically completely absent from the governance and oversight of the organization, and then truly let to spiral out of control by two co-executive directors who are completely unable to make a decision, do not provide direction or leadership, refuse to put trust in their employees or give them the agency they need to effectively do their work. Employees quit with no other jobs lined up simply to escape the organization. Employees who had worked there for YEARS were driven out unceremoniously or quit. A new employee were hired and then laid off in less than 2 years due to the organization's financial insolvency. Every day I felt dread logging on to work. Thoughts of how terrible work would be permeated my weekends and evenings. This stemmed from a culture of micro-management and distrust that was reinforced by all of senior leadership. Team members' morale was abysmal and no one felt trusted, appreciated, or listened to.
