Clueless of whats really going on in company. - Disgruntled Windermere Engineering Services Employee Review

The work environment has improved much over the last several years. It's now a relaxed work environment where open communication is encouraged. The hours are flexible, as long as the business needs are met. The owners are also very accommodating about personal and family needs. I have frequently adjusted my work schedule "on the fly," so to speak, for various family obligations, meetings, church functions, etc. without any flack from the owners. I also have telecommuted on occasion in order to be available at home for family issues. Senior management is also very focused on business ethics and doing the right thing, so I never feel pressured to compromise my values.

The owners are involved in multiple businesses and personal projects (although Windermere Engineering Services appears to be their biggest priority). As a result, there are periods when the owners are not in the office (however, they are good about answering their cell phones).

Free coffee and food. Laid back dress code.

Management has no idea what they are doing. Not opened to new ideas. Stuck in their same old ways. Judgmental of employees. Trying to "expand" and refuse to leave the mom and pop business persona. Cats in the office are treated nicer than most employees. How can your boss tell you what to do if they do not even know what should be done?
