Pros
- Name recognition in a mid-size town - Plenty of office space to meet with clients - Attorneys set their own schedule - Health insurance benefits are great
Cons
- Most of the attorneys are siloed into their own practice areas with their clients which can make it difficult for new attorneys - The base salary is not competitive with other positions in the Willamette Valley, they have an eat-what-you-kill model that associates can pivot to. - The building they operate out of is old, like over one hundred years old and has sections that are unusable - There are some staff members and attorneys who have worked their for their entire career. Some of the employees are burned out, which leads to underperforming. - No real desire to grow the firm or practice areas among the owners. As mentioned above, most attorneys have their own practice areas and clients. There are no set practice groups. - There is an expectation that attorneys who are hired are able to produce immediately. New attorneys who are straight out of law school are expected to draft and file pleadings and appear in court with minimal oversight. - Some of the attorneys/staff at the office harbor very conservative views toward LGBTQ+ individuals. If I identified that way, I would not feel comfortable working there. - I never had a "supervisor" or partner I worked under. When I first joined, I had no idea how I fit in or what I was expected to do.
