Pros
- trained me on everything and allow for employee development if you are good at the job - provide in depth training and i learned a lot working here full-time (even though it was at the detriment of my wellbeing) - there are staff benefits that i didn’t really take to my advantage but i will say the discount isn’t really worth it anyway since Waitrose is so expensive but it’s still a discount so can’t complain - most other branches sound okay to work for but i would not work for the branch i was at again!
Cons
- not super flexible on hours for my branch - managers are the main issue, they make it much more stressful due to the goals they have to reach but put it on minimum wage students who are trying their best - managers usually just assume you’re doing something wrong deliberately and often it felt accusatory (e.g. accusing people with jet lag of being drunk on shift who were not drunk) - managers often don’t pitch in on shop floor even when you’re understaffed but then complain nothing is being done - just very stressful and it feels personal when you make mistakes as you can hear managers talk badly about other employees often in front of you
