Pros

Compensation is above average. The opportunity to start at the bottom & work your way to the top. Very strong stock program Growth at a consistent rate Strong training programs for all levels Ownership in your stores & the company stock Paid expenses (gas, oil, car maint, meals) Paid vacation Health Insurance Fun atmosphere in the Waffle House at times

Cons

The leaders of the company say one thing but do another. Very little family time You will get blamed for everything & rarely told your work is very self-sufficient, Your restaurant will still be dirty after you cleaned it because the buildings are 30+yrs old and falling apart. 15-18hr days are not uncommon; 70+ hour weeks are normal. Be prepared for 24-36hr days also when someone calls out on 3rd and you are still expected to show up in the a.m. Company has a no alcohol policy; Since you will never see your friends you can also forget about having a beer with your team. You will work all holidays & possibly valentines day (morning & evenings on holidays). Once you become a division manager no one cares about you You will get sales & staffing 3 times a day. This will interrupt your family plans & time Friday and Saturday night you have to go back into work and possibly every night if you have a tough unit. No sick pay They always talk about how great they are compared to everyone else but for some reason they can't seem to hire enough management to staff the stores...in other words it must not be so great after all

Pros

Solid pay for the industry Okay benefits Employee stock purchase plan Pretty consistent hours The actual work is difficult, but fun after you get good at it. Upward momentum is difficult, but the pay scales very well if you work your way up into management. Prepare for intense work if you do though.

Cons

They hire everyone, and your team will make or break your experience. Genuine safety concerns on 3rd shift. You need to be prepared for people to act out. Senior management only have operation management skills. They are not good "people" managers at all. Only "number" managers.
