Pros

the students are very nice, and most of the staff and faculty are nice. Mission College is close to some good restaurants.

Cons

HR can't handle problems beyond time off. The staff is generally the first group to take cuts as they are not tenured, like faculty. For staff, if you want to move into another job, you must go through the entire interview process- they do not promote from within. (Newly open jobs are first available to current staff, but the interview process is lengthy and includes the EXACT SAME job application as when you first applied.) As with most California colleges, the entire college system needs an overhaul, but WVMCCD won't be the ones to lead that charge. Fact: when a faculty member gets reviewed they set up their own review committee.

Pros

WVMCCD is a great place to work, the organization's leadership has a bold vision for the district's future and executes on it at all levels.

Cons

Any large organization can see delays in progressing in its mission. WVMCCD still does a good job at this.

Pros

Other classified professionals (staff) that you meet on campus are wonderful, earnest people who are working hard and doing their best to support students.

Cons

Lots of politics among the directors, people who are out-of-touch with what they demand of classifieds, and are also really bent on preserving their reputation as directors/leadership at the college. The college presidents are AMAZING, but the directors of different departments are roots of the issues.
