Pros
Dynamic and charismatic strategic leadership is evident through regular appearances by senior management in front of all employees. The overall standard of associates is exceptionally high. Peers are intelligent, industrious and it is a really great place to look forward to coming to work. The Willis Building in Lime Street must be one of the best places to work in the City. There are lots of reasons to work here.
Cons
Short-term, hard-nosed business decisions to attain unrealistic targets prevent individuals working together to achieve long-term goals. There is a view that goals are set so high that bonus targets are virtually impossible to meet. Those that understand their trade and have cracked the system work unremittingly to achieve their personal goals. A lot of attention is paid to team events, but these are invariably spurned by middle managers. There is therefore too much evidence of 'silo' working with very little matrix or project working - in spite of the 'One Flag' vision. Lower management levels are so focused on goals that there is very little time for team-building activities. There is no hint that individuals' skills have been identified and used for the common good. When some faces do not fit, they simply disappear without recognition.
