- Big one: the uncertainty that we live with in the wake of Matt Mullenweg's unhinged behavior, both toward WPE and toward the WordPress ecosystem in general. Causes a lot of unnecessary anxiety.
- For teams that aren't near an office hub, it's been hard to get budget approval to travel for IRL meetups.
- Restructuring that has resulted in layoffs last year also caused a fair amount of anxiety for employees.
- Career growth opportunities are limited lately. Probably true everywhere, but when you're not in hyper-growth mode, there just aren't many spots available to grow into.
- Leadership in WordPress seems dedicated to making all the wrong decisions. At best, they're committed to throwing good money after bad on a visual/block editor (Gutenberg) while mostly ignoring improvements to the CMS, and at worst they are intentionally antagonizing their engaged user and developer community. WPE should probably figure out a way to diversify our product lines.
