Pros

The name recognition of Virginia Tech can look good on a résumé. Some colleagues are supportive and collaborative.

Cons

Staff are expected to do everything and anything that leadership or faculty ask, regardless of role or workload. Salaries are low compared to the expectations placed on staff. Leadership and faculty often show little to no respect for staff contributions. Very little opportunity for growth, recognition, or work-life balance.
