Pros

Free sodas in an easily-accessible Center City office were very nice. Co-workers were overall very friendly and pleasant people.

Cons

There were not a ton of great lunch options nearby. Additionally, most employees ate at their desks, as opposed to lunch being a time for any sort of social interaction. More seriously, the office as a whole felt dilapidated and needed a thorough cleaning as well as carpets and furniture replaced. The company culture was very gloomy as a lot of employees seemed disappointed due to the recent acquisition of Villa by DTLR. A large number of Villa employees have been laid off in the past year. It seems that DTLR is choosing to strictly have Villa operate the e-commerce side of the business which leaves the large Philadelphia Villa office mostly empty, since DTLR remains headquartered in Hanover, MD.

Pros

Co-workers...those that are left.

Cons

Complete lack of direction. VILLA is a company that intends to do right but do to its wayward CEO and upper management falls very very short. It's perceived moral DNA is a means to capture a market that looks to give back, but it is not true and genuine at VILLA. The CEO is completely oblivious to what is going on in the company and the urban retail market as a whole. He jumps on the latest things and dives into them without any research or knowledge. He uses the words "I don't know..." incessantly when being asks questions, then differs, then comes over the top with horrible decisions. VILLA success was much due in part of managers and VPs that have since left. The former Men's footwear buyer and former VP of Marketing. Now that they have left the ship is slowly sinking with only a few talented people left over. Their forays into dated artists and archaic meet and greet signings is a testament to their lack of direction. Really a shame what VILLA has become. And they continue to hire people that have 0 clue about the demographic that they cater to. They hire more and more people not of the culture leaving them just "doing stuff". This is also due to the CEO. Really just a poorly managed company looking to make a buck and keep expanding without guard rails.
