Pros

I worked for Verrus (then Poole Resourcing) for just under two years before moving on to pastures new overseas. As with all employers there are good and bad elements but I have to say that my experience was on the whole very positive and I remember my days there fondly. So I was surprised to be made aware of some negative comments on here and I can’t say I agree with them but sort of understand where they come from (and from who!) Non-existent commission is indeed the case for a the many people who enter the world of recruitment looking to get rich quick! This is an industry that is NOT FOR EVERYONE and even the people that become successful don’t get successful overnight. They persevere and stick at it and it can take a long time before it starts giving back, as I know all too well. But if you are looking at recruitment as a long term career then Verrus are way better than most in terms of guidance, training, good perks and just actually taking an interest in your wellbeing! It’s very telling that the people with bad things to say about the company all worked there for less than a year - they just weren’t cut out for recruitment and left of their own accord. They are also no longer working in recruitment, which sort of tells its own story. I’m still in touch with Verrus and hold their guys in high respects with some of them among my best friends.

Cons

There are certain elements that I’d improve but they are particular to me really. One size doesn’t fit all and on the whole there’s nothing major to put right about this company. I would not be where I am now had I gone elsewhere.

Pros

I worked at Verrus for four and a half years, and it’s been an incredible journey both professionally and personally. When I joined, I had no prior recruitment experience. Thanks to the supportive environment, I was able to develop my skills from the ground up and ultimately progress into a successful consultant role. What stands out most about Verrus is the senior management team. They genuinely invest in people, give you the tools and guidance you need to succeed, and create an atmosphere where hard work is recognised and rewarded. I’m extremely grateful for the trust they placed in me and for the opportunities they offered throughout my time here. The team culture is collaborative, motivating, and fun. If you’re driven, willing to learn, and looking for a place where you can build real expertise, Verrus is a fantastic place to grow your career. I leave with nothing but appreciation and positive memories. Highly recommended.

Cons

Career growth into management roles can be a bit challenging, as progression at the upper levels is fairly limited. The commission structure, while workable, isn’t the strongest in the industry and could be more competitive. Additionally, email deliverability was sometimes an issue, which made outreach and day-to-day workflow more difficult than it needed to be.

Pros

I joined Verrus in 2018 after returning from the UAE, where I worked as Sales and Business Development Director for a commercial flooring company specialising in office towers, earning around £200k annually. When I first came back to the UK, I aimed to find a similar role, but without local experience at director level, and being overqualified for sales executive positions, it proved challenging. Jonathan Hodgkins from Verrus found my CV on a job board and introduced me to the opportunity of becoming a recruitment consultant. Initially, I accepted with the mindset that it would be a temporary role until I secured something matching my previous income. What surprised me was that, within the structure and market position Verrus offers, I was able to leverage my international sales background and high-level communication skills to generate the same income I had earned overseas but now in the UK, close to family and friends. The uncapped earning potential at Verrus, combined with a strong market presence in specialised sectors, creates an environment where high performers are truly rewarded. Not only have I been able to match my previous income, but I have also found fulfilment in the work itself, making this career move far more than a stopgap it has become a long-term, rewarding path.

Cons

None that I could think of.
