Pros

Good benefits, work from home 2 days if you don't work on a client site. Social events, catered lunch every so often. Great BD team.

Cons

This company has a lot of turnovers, just went through a huge layoff because the manager didn't know that they were doing and couldnt bring in business. Don't believe they are a "cybersecurity" firm, they are huge on GRC- auditing. They have three smaller teams (pentesting, security engineering and CAM) so if you don't want to get stuck in audit, then apply for one of those three. They also broke off with a sister company that does SOC audits, again audits; a LOT of writing- no tool to aggravate clients findings. Totally unsecure with client data, no up to date policies or procedures to follow. It's a mess, I guess a work in progress. The office location is very far from good places to eat. The office rumor mill spends more time on gossip then work; if there ever is people in the office. The pentesting team lock themselves in a secured room. The organizational structure and processes are trying to adjust to keep up cutting edge, like most tech companies, which can be tiresome for people not used to an old work environment. The on boarding & training of new employees could use some refinement. No room for growth, they say you do, but unless you work 60-70 hrs a week ongoing, you will get nowhere. They hire all sr levels from outside the company which doesn't give you a chance to move up. No real culture or values other then work hard and produce, if you write assessments wrong, well you are screwed! If you really want to work for a audit firm I can say they are the best in the Fedramp realm. You will learn a lot in compliance. That's about all. Heard a lot of awesome things, but was disappointed from week 2.

Pros

Veris Group has an unbelievable culture that allows you to grow into any career path you may want. That's not say that it is going to happen overnight, but if you convey your goals and interests then management does make an effort to try and get you involved in those disciplines. At times the workload can be intense, but if you're the type of person who thrives on that then Veris Group is the place for you. I worked for Veris Group and then left the organization to explore other alternatives, but I eventually made my way back to company because its unlike most organizations out there in that you feel like a member of the team rather than just another number on a balance sheet. In addition, there are some extremely intelligent people at this organization who you can learn a lot from no matter what discipline you're in.

Cons

As with every organization, the company has faced some staffing issues with finding the right people. However, I do believe that this is a larger issue across the information technology space. Everyone who has a CISSP believes they should demand a six-figure salary, but you need the skill set and personel drive to back that certification up.
