Pros
- A strong research culture, where you're given a lot of freedom to self-direct scientific inquiry. - Lots of ability to get unique data via partnerships that you can't get anywhere else. - A lot of promise for actualizing healthcare interventions. Legal, wetlab, software infra, and data science all come together. - All the advantages of being an alphabet company: amazing infrastructure, access to alphabet offices, codesearch, tons of support for internal tools, tons of compute resources at your fingertips.
Cons
- some amount of organizational chaos. Never bothered me much, I always felt pretty well-supported on my projects. The faces of upper management changes a lot. - Projects are somewhat dependent on their market feasibility, and funding from partnerships. Verily will only support pure research for so long.
