Pros

Verily came out of Google X and spun out of Alphabet. This is the only "pro" and comes with a lot of unpacking. The above could mean you will work with long-timers who know how to plan, pivot, and perform.

Cons

Salaries were slashed and are now low-to-mid for the industry Equity was reduced 80% in fall 2025 (for those who had vested shares and unable to sell because the company is still private, this is a gigantic blow) Leadership team consistently fights within and explains direction poorly, then often changes the message Middle management is in survival mode, has little management skills, and can not help with career direction or promotions Promising hardware-focused products were ended to focus on cheaper-to-build software Said software is entering an incredibly competitive market with no moat or differentiator FAA investigation for violations to PHI Tech stack needed to get off Google's to de-creep-ify the platform for health data, but leaving Google and its AI models makes Verily's decision hard to comprehend

Pros

Most of the team was very smart, and much of the work was very interesting.

Cons

Chaotic team structure, lots of red tape, confusing project ownership, too many overlapping people on some projects, while not enough for others.
