Pros

Verb was a fantastic place to work, until it was acquired by J&J. It was a slow decline from there. As Verb though, great people, great energetic leadership. Well funded.

Cons

J&J made some bad decisions at the executive leadership level that led to serious delays in product timelines for their robotics business. Merging Verb and Auris Robotics was difficult.

Pros

I worked at Verb for a couple of months, in 2019, my task was to develop a comprehensive test on a motor control PCB. I enjoyed working with my much younger co-workers. Lunchtime was always a pleasure. Lots of laughter and mutual respect.

Cons

I have always been a quick study so it was apparent to me that none of the managers I met understood what senior Verb engineers were designing. One aspect of the design made it impossible for a system-wide communication protocol to work. I tried to explain this to the managers I was working with, but they did not want to hear it. I completed my assignment quickly and demonstrated it. The other serious problem I saw, at that time, was the goal of the test group to develop an all-encompassing test system that would test everything all at once. In my long career I have seen this methodology fail every time. When I voiced this, during a meeting, that started a big brouhaha. At that point the test group had produced nothing. It appeared to me the managers at Verb, during that time, were throwing money at non-productive teams and not doing their due diligence.
