Pros
Varsity is a small, growing company focused on managed IT services for non-profit and educational organizations. I've been with Varsity for some time and I find it to be a great place to work. Listed below are things I value about working here. - Everyone who works at Varsity is good people. Everyone is willing help each other out. No one is a jerk here. From past jobs and hearing of other people's work experiences, this is a pretty valuable thing. - There are many opportunities to learn and further your IT career. You get exposed to a lot of different and emerging technologies. - Varsity invests in its employees growth. Management actively guides your professional development, wherever you want to take it. - It's very rewarding working with non-profits and education. I've met a lot of cool clients who do good for the community. It's become a point of pride when discussing my job with friends and new people I meet. - Management (and non-management) definitely appreciate the work you do here and will do what they can to show it. Those efforts will not go unnoticed. - The CEO is very transparent about the company and accessible to discuss pretty much anything that may be on your mind. This tells me he's absolutely committed to the employees. - It's a very dynamic working environment with new challenges every day. I suppose this can be a con too, but I see it as opportunity. It keeps things interesting. I used to work at a University and while that was super cushy, I felt like I needed to challenge myself and grow. Varsity has delivered that in spades. - Solid benefits package. - As a field tech I got to explore all of the Bay Area (and in turn, learned all the best places to get lunch). - Cool HQ location on mid-Market. - Company has been trending up and growing ever since I started.
Cons
Of course there are cons. After all, it IS work. - It's a very busy environment that can bog you down if you're not prepared. It can get challenging trying to prioritize, but managers are there to help. - It's a very dynamic working environment as well. You definitely need to be able to adapt, but if you can, you will thrive. - Time Sheets. Everyone has to do them. They're essential for reporting and analysis. I still don't like doing them and most everyone here will agree they're a necessary evil.
