Pros
The people are great to work with and readily available to respond to requests for assistance. The office allows dogs and is located in a convenient location. The pay is above industry average and generous for the COL.
Cons
Inept management with no qualifications or background in analytics run the show. Rather than taking time to build fundamental infrastructure, management continually pushes for ad-hoc analysis that end up as wasted work. The competing technology stacks between USX and Variant make licensing costs, training efforts, and dashboards redundant. There is no appetite to promote from within. Management has moved to hiring advanced degree levels for analyst roles without understanding the current job market or careers in BI/DS. Management does not listen to feedback for the need of a GitHub repository to store code. There is no standard change management SOP and most code/reports are pushed straight to production environments. Executive leadership has grandiose visions of the company and drafts white papers of said visions but lacks the ability to execute even simple principles of a good analytics shop. Ratio of managers to individual contributors is 1:2 and the organization is becoming top heavy.
