Pros
My experience at UMICO was working my way up from clerk to management reporting to sr. management. I worked hard and I made a good buck. They pay well. I worked there just under 25 years. At the time, I highly recommended them as an employer.
Cons
Very political. If you get stuck working for the wrong person, everything you proved in 25 years to get to where you were, is suddenly invisible. If you are a woman working in a man's world, they will let you know that they favor their men friends for your job and have no problem eliminating jobs to get rid of people that never had a bad performance review ever. It's who you know that gets you promoted. You have to play the game or they will eventually cut you.
