Pros

I really can't think of anything other than collecting a paycheck.

Cons

The management team in home office is completely incompetent. They make terrible decision after terrible decision and are completely out of touch with what is going on in the rest of the insurance market. The one and only time I have ever laid eyes on the CEO (in 2.5 years of working here) was when he "swung" by the Atlanta office on his way to Bike Week in Daytona (the fact that he was attending that event should say a lot). He gave a presentation about the state of the company and how if Utica had grown at the pace of the rest of the market, they would be twice the size they currently are. UH- WHA? Don't you think, as the CEO, that fact alone should have caused him to turn his motorcycle around and head back to "Uticer" NY to do something about it!? This is the level of competence you are dealing with at Utica Mutual. I think a 10th grader has better strategic and critcal thinking skills than this batch of morons. The company has been losing money for years and there is no strategic plan or vision that makes ANY sense to do anything about it. Some things you WON'T be getting if you come to Utica Mutual: - A computer built after 1999 - Updated systems (including databases, phones, laptops, etc) - A competent manager - The empowerment to do your job - A bonus - A 401K match - Team building - Free coffee in the breakroom - Affordable benefits I really cannot stress eough that this is NOT a place you want to work. Consider yourself warned.

Pros

Work from home/hybrid available; adjustable work hours

Cons

Many good workers usually leave, either forced out or fired. Their replacements are usually always worse. They keep low performing, difficult workers, with bad quality who can’t get any of their work done timely only because a relative got them the job. Insurance benefit costs at the doctor office are super high. This place insurance is only good if you have zero health issues. Difficult to move up and to another department. As a whole company is ran poorly across every division with many, many problems.
