Pros
Free lunch and good diversity of people
Cons
Ultima lacks competent senior staff to make proper decisions on short and long -term projects and goals, and are only satisfied by sub-mediocre protocols that meet the minimum requirement in that they work without understanding of why and how they work. Products and protocols are launched without proper testing, validation and stability, but only that it has worked a few times in-house and is sent to the field. The unsanitary labs are built in dark and dank garages that were planned without contribution from a real wet-lab scientist with no regard for safety or regard for a high employee satisfaction rating. Nothing is bolted or strapped down in case of an earthquake and they don’t believe in any kind of preventative maintenance on their mostly used and second hand standard laboratory equipment. Ultima has the feel of being run by people who have never experienced biology and everything is below par compared to the industry standard from salary, work environment and quality product development.
