Pros

Hum, its a secure job if you are in the nursing field, unless you have been there too long then maybe you'd make to much and maybe need to be let go. ....... you can transfer out of one hospital to another if you get sick of the place ..... upmc owns pretty much everything so you get discounts for working there ...... you can get school paid for if you want to owe them time..... the food isn't too bad ... but its very pricey .... $4.80 a lb for salad! The benefits arent too bad either! Thats all I can think of!

Cons

There are plenty of downsides, for one there is no respect in the whole system! The fact that everything is getting cheaper for example the disposable washcloths.... horrible! And the hospital is supposed to be "Green" okay so we use twice the amount of baggies... plastic... and disposable washcloths..... more and more trash... not so green! Also the fact that UPMC recycles! Okay thats why there are maybe a dozen recycable containers in the place.... which are barely used ever. More downsides... maybe the fact that my retirement is already fading fast yet UPMC decides that they will lover their contributing percentage... yay UPMC! Also the fact that UPMC has decided to NOT give people their raises... that one is the best!

Pros

No pros. It was a horrible place to work

Cons

If you were night shift, you had to work every holiday. The nurses were so lazy and never helped us. We ran around taking care of patients with no help. Changing them, cleaning up horrible messes, taking them to the bathroom and doing vitals with no help. Nurses would sit there eating while on Facebook, while we did all the work. Some would even be sleeping!
