Pros

- Good Work-Life Balance - People are generally nice / Middle management is willing to mentor even across work teams

Cons

Kow Tow Nature to head honcho and his army of yes men in senior mgmt shows there remains ways to career progression Protip: make sure to laugh at jokes told by senior mgmt during meetings Constantly changing pet projects by CEO (Movement towards ESG one year, then ETFs the next and wtv flavor of the year thrown out by FT) to mask the fact that the business is in structural decline (Net outflow of AUM) (Then again the entire AM business is too small and negligible to the bank such that they get away scott free) High turnover amongst junior staff, more than 80% of investment analysts has resigned within the FI team, each year young analysts get conned before "putting people first" is lip service

Pros

A place that can help you sharpen leadership and entrepreneurial skills in a fast-paced environment. There is a strong emphasis on learning how to communicate effectively with senior management and how to “tell the story” of your work in a compelling way. If you are a Senior Director, working hours can be highly flexible and you can come in after lunch or not at all, particularly in sales, where attendance is often loosely structured and schedules may vary. There is also a noticeable focus on workplace optics and perception management, including practices such as timing communications to align with expectations of dedication and effort, a good example is to set your email to send out late at night or after midnight. At the same time, investment and operational teams tend to follow more structured office hours due to the nature of trading and operational requirements. Overall, the environment combines flexibility in some functions with more rigid demands in others, depending on seniority and business needs.

Cons

Very understanding senior management, especially towards sales, as evident in the flexibility in working times. Even when clients complain, CMO will protect the sales person as they work very hard late at night. So no cons, perfect company to work for.
