Pros

At its core, the business is mission driven for people in their most dire times. Competitive base pay - the company is willing to pay for talent instead of developing from within. Equity/stock options were granted to every employee, however you must be employed at the time of sale for the options to be vested and exercised, which is no guarantee. Manager-level and above qualify for a bonus program that did not pay out this year. Although over-valued, the company continues to be very profitable. The pressure to grow is the cause for instability at the company.

Cons

It's very difficult not to feel like you're on a sinking ship here. There is tremendous pressure from the private equity owners. The company was purchased for over $1B in November 2020 and the owners are trying to sell for at least 3x in the next couple years even though the business has not grown from a financial standpoint. The company laid off 60+ employees in August 2022, only to turn around a rehire some of those same positions in January of the next fiscal year. Layoffs continued into Q1 and Q2 of 2023. The business has turned over 75% of their executive team in the 18 months. However, the lack of transparency from the top remains the same. Executives make decisions in a vacuum and it's difficult to engage with leadership beyond your immediate manager. The new executives openly admit to joining the company for the lucrative bonuses resulting from an impending sale.

Pros

Very nice and professional people to work with. I've made friends here that I'll keep in touch with when I leave.

Cons

They have had a few rounds of layoffs. There have been more layoffs than I thought there would be when I started. About 4 or so rounds of layoffs in the past 3 years.
