The executives, through their consistent short-sighted decision making over the course of a decade or so, have basically driven the business into the ground. You'll consistently be forced to basically fist fight to get them to allow you rewrite things "properly" -- it's always "this release needs to go out" or "well, we can't hire a team for that". Go figure the stock is in the toilet when you refuse to ever invest and advance the technical stack that is your breadwinner, and focus on stupid quarterly goals that mean nothing if the entire business goes down.
