It's a bit hard to think of....

The projects are meaningful and well designed- all the projects are ground up, low income / affordable residential housing projects. Principals are interested and involved in all aspects of the design. Coworkers are really devoted to the projects and everyone works hard and are legitimately talented and nice.

Several of their clients are 6-8 months behind in payment, and there are several projects that go on hold for years before being resurrected -- and then paused again. I also found out very quickly that there is 1 person (now an Associate) at the firm where AT LEAST 5 different people that worked with the person had such a horrible time that they almost quit. Each of these coworkers had gotten to the point where they approached the principals directly and gently requested to be moved off of the project to get away from this person or they would quit the firm. We all like the projects, but this person is unprofessional with coworkers, with clients, with consultants, even with the principals - but they seem to take it with a grain of salt and alot of patience. No one understands why because the behavior is so inappropriate and unprofessional. The stories of multiple people requesting to be moved away from the person was told to me as happening before my time. In the time I was there, What I personally saw (more may have happened behind the scenes) was 2 people working with the person quit the firm and both only gave 1 week notice. If you take the job you will be able to identify this person on Day 1 based on the volume of their voice on zoom calls and their aggressive behavior to everyone in the firm. Do what you can to avoid the person and you'll be fine. This person is very toxic and is very very aggressive.
