Pros

The only positives were working with a great team and having a four-day work week.

Cons

Senior leadership in this organisation fosters a toxic work environment. Managers are unprofessional, rude, and lack the basic skills to communicate and engage with their staff respectfully. Employees are treated as if they are disposable, with no regard for their well-being or contributions. There are no real opportunities for growth, as leadership tends to keep certain individuals in power while limiting advancement for others. This lack of progression creates a stagnant and demoralising workplace.

Pros

Through the almost half year engagement that I’ve had with Theirworld to date, I’ve been inspired by the commitment, drive, and action to end the global education crisis. The organisation’s vision is lofty, to say the least, but we have the strategy, plan, resources, and tactical know how to move the needle in support of children across the globe. There was a major leadership transition at the organization in early 2019 as Justin van Fleet took the helm. As with any transition, change can be challenging – a large portion of what I suspect has led to the turnover over the past several months. My experience has proven leadership to be tremendously accessible and engaged in both the work and efforts to strengthen communication and transparency. Also, stay tuned for an exciting, impactful and innovative round of announcements this fall. The organisation’s behind-the-scenes efforts are about to be a bit more visible soon and will move the needle in ways not done before.

Cons

As the organisation has great ambitions, not for itself, but for children across the globe, this sometimes leads to taking on more projects than there is available bandwidth in a normal day/week. This is, of course, driven by the urgency associated with the global education crisis, but can pose a challenge with competing priorities and the need to identify extra resources in a very short time.

Pros

Great friendly environment full of interesting, engaged and passionate people really wanting to make an impact Larhe amounts of responsibility for an entry level job where every opinion is valid and heard in the workplace and your ideas can contribute to new and exciting projects as well as large scale events Four day work week and flexible work benefits as well as a really nice office space

Cons

Need a standardised onboarding process for new employees to learn the ethos and structure of the charity instead of having to pick it up a long the way Better organisation of fundraising processes would be beneficial especially in terms of timelines and editing
