Pros
- Working here is purposeful, the projects we work on will make a difference in supporting the defense of our country.
- Colleagues are friendly, approachable, and easy to work with.
- The culture respects work-life balance and flexible work hours, especially for people with kids.
- A mix of DXOs and Regulars brings diversity to the teams.
- The organization supports continuous learning. Employees are encouraged to attend a conference or learning event (including overseas) at least once a year.
- The bottomline is mission not profit, so OT is rare or even non-existent.
- Depending on the project, you can learn a lot.
Cons
- Like any large organisation, things can move a bit slower at times due to processes. Especially in government.
- Progression might be slower due to organizational policies unless you are the top x% of performers.
- With the DIS being quite new, direction and org structure may pivot often.
- Due to the org being new also, skill competency framework needs to be more polished.
