Server/ Shift leader - Server/Shift Leader The Cheesecake Factory Employee Review

Pros

Fast money, PTO earning and sections are given based off performance. Worked at many restaurants, but none had sufficient training like they do. Also, every server has to food run at least once a week. Being a shift leader ( food runner) on Monday mornings and made over $150 for less than four hours. Earn your shift leader spot, no tip out and you are responsible for all the servers and food getting out in time and correct. Servers will tip you out generously if you are on top of their needs.

Cons

Excessive tip out, Poor management, Insufficient supplies to do job, Micromanagement by servers as well as managers, Long hours must work at least two 12 hour shifts on weekend because weekdays are so inconsistent. You will be criticized for making a mistake but good service and guest compliments, while important and critical to the restaurant, go unrecognized by management.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. We appreciate your honesty in helping us to shape our organization in the best way possible- we work incredibly hard to maintain a positive and inclusive working environment for all of our staff members to benefit from. As an organization, we strive to provide opportunity for all of our staff members so that they can learn and grow personally and professionally with us. We train all of our managers to cater and be attentive to their staff and their needs to ensure a supportive work environment. To hear that you felt you were treated disrespectfully and undervalued goes against much of our values of what we stand for as an organization. Please give staff relations a call to further discuss these issues that you witnessed/experienced so that we can make necessary adjustments if needed. They can be reached at 818-871-3000, and someone will be more than happy to speak with you. We want all of our staff, current or former, to feel like they've made an impact while working with us to help them advance their careers. Although you no longer work with us, we hope that you found some joy in working with us and we wish you the best of luck!

Pros

The Cheesecake Factory is easily the best company I've ever worked for...and I've been through a lot. Beginning with the company culture, and extending all the way through operations and into our restaurants, I've been inspired every day by the approach everyone takes to their positions and their daily interactions. Other companies hold certain values, but everyone at The Cheesecake Factory believes in and lives by them every day. The warmth and dedication to their individual roles and responsibilities is only amplified by their commitment to integrity, decency, and doing whatever it takes to support every single person else around them. Everyone is not just accepted but welcomed with open arms for who they are and what they bring to the office every day. I couldn't say enough good about this place, and I hope to never leave.

Cons

Like every company that's been around for almost 50 years, it's a little slow to adapt to current times when it comes to technology or a few other recent best practices. But no one is closed to new ideas—it just takes a while for them to take hold. Salary levels are fine, but growth takes time at the company—mainly because no one ever leaves (in a good way)—and that may not be the best fit for everyone. But the pros about this place make it worth it.
