Good Money, Seniority Driven Restaurant. - Server The Cheesecake Factory Employee Review

Pros

Cheesecake factory is always busy. It is not uncommon for thier to be a three hour wait on a weekend night. most servers get four table sections. the times are mostly good and it is easy to increase check averages through the sales of cheesecake and dessert. The managers mostly leave you alone and you are allowed to do your job. There is alot of support staff including bussers, food runners, host and bar tenders so the job is about as easy as it can be. They are very flexible with scheduling as you are able to get almost any day off and utilize hotschedules, an online scheduling product.

Cons

Management is always looking to find you doing something wrong. the management relies too heavily on mystery shoppers and surveys over their own management abilities. It can be hard to get enough shifts to pay your bills. The tip out is a little high at 4.1% of sales. Side work always takes for ever to get checked out and they tend to be too slow to cut the floor when it is not busy. The restaurant is very seniority driven. the best shifts and sections and given to the people who have been there the longest regardless of skill and there is a significant difference in the quality of sections.

Pros

The Cheesecake Factory is easily the best company I've ever worked for...and I've been through a lot. Beginning with the company culture, and extending all the way through operations and into our restaurants, I've been inspired every day by the approach everyone takes to their positions and their daily interactions. Other companies hold certain values, but everyone at The Cheesecake Factory believes in and lives by them every day. The warmth and dedication to their individual roles and responsibilities is only amplified by their commitment to integrity, decency, and doing whatever it takes to support every single person else around them. Everyone is not just accepted but welcomed with open arms for who they are and what they bring to the office every day. I couldn't say enough good about this place, and I hope to never leave.

Cons

Like every company that's been around for almost 50 years, it's a little slow to adapt to current times when it comes to technology or a few other recent best practices. But no one is closed to new ideas—it just takes a while for them to take hold. Salary levels are fine, but growth takes time at the company—mainly because no one ever leaves (in a good way)—and that may not be the best fit for everyone. But the pros about this place make it worth it.
