Pros
Teradata's multi-cloud and hybrid Vantage product addresses the need for a unified data platform without lock-in to a single Cloud Service Provider (Azure, Redshift, Google Cloud Platform). Vantage runs on all three CSPs and on-prem. The people, for the most part, are smart and nice. Teradata has been great helping people manage the WFH balance by giving "Summer Fridays" (1/2 day off).
Cons
Compensation is low compared with similar roles at other companies. 401K matching takes 3 years to vest. Opportunity for career growth is limited due to excessive layers of management and Teradata's propensity to hire leadership roles from outside the company. Leadership churn in the last year has been head-spinning. Teradata is working to become more agile, but the top-down command and control culture prevents this. A lot of work has been done on "strategy" but there is confusion in the ranks about how this applies to individuals' jobs. There are too many layers of management. The company is trying at diversity and inclusion, but almost all of the new VP and SVP hires are white men.
