Pros
The legacy team and technology at Image Matters (the company Tepa acquired) were top-notch, with a deep sense of loyalty and a history of innovation. For over two decades, the original company culture was like a family, and management demonstrated a true commitment to its employees, even taking pay cuts to avoid layoffs during difficult times.
Cons
My long tenure career with the company came to an abrupt and deeply disappointing end following the acquisition by Tepa LLC. As the foundational architect who personally wrote a significant portion of the company's entire software portfolio over two decades, I expected a professional transition. Instead, my experience was the opposite. After the acquisition, my role and responsibilities were almost immediately and systematically diminished to the point of being negligible. The process culminated in my termination, which was handled in a 3-minute call, without a thank you for my services. The company's justification for providing no severance package was that it was a "separation at will" . It was based on a factually incorrect assumption that I had secured other employment. In reality, I had explicitly told the relevant party that I was not taking the position they assumed I was. For my long years of service, which included building the very software assets the company was in the process of selling, the lack of any severance has had a significant and negative impact on my financial plans for retirement at age late fifties.
