Pros

The employees found are amazing people and very welcoming to new staff. There was a lot of "believe in yourself" moments which was so valuable to my career. My role also allowed me to learn how to handle difficult situations and personalities. The staff retreats are nice and much appreciated.

Cons

Though heavily staffed on the female side and run by women - I really feel like men with less experience are paid more than women with more experience which is sad. I believe graduates are recruited because they do not have the real life work experience and it is taken advantage of by management. I believe some staff are forced to work ridiculous hours and are not compensated because everyone is on salary. Communication with staff is poor and secretive. There is no effort to keep good people. Salaries and Benefits are not competitive to other non-profits in the area.

Pros

I made my own schedule. My colleagues in other departments were great.

Cons

Management practices often felt overly focused on micromanagement rather than meaningful support. Compensation was not competitive, and there were limited incentives or recognition for high-quality performance. The role required carrying the responsibilities of what felt like three separate positions, with minimal tangible guidance or structural support. Much of the work operated in silos, and “support” often translated into increased oversight rather than collaboration. Additionally, the role required a significant number of evening and weekend commitments through mandatory events and programming.
