Salary and leave entitlements are very reasonable

No academic management - all has to come from 'grassroots' on top of your teaching load and often with opposition from colleagues
Management and HR isn't transparent
Unequal treatment of employees by management
I'm sure it varies across teams, but I've witnessed a culture of distrust where many (not all) colleagues do not want to share their ideas or work with the team (though happy to accept others'), and will pass off the ideas of others as their own
