Pros
he pay is competitive, and there are several benefits available for standard employees. There are established standard work checklists that clearly outline expectations for most aspects of the job. For floor-level employees, the work is very standardized. If you come in, follow the process, and meet your numbers, you are likely to have a positive experience. Safety is a top priority throughout the year, and the WHS team is highly engaged. The Safety Manager works diligently to ensure employees are not placed in unsafe situations, even during peak season when productivity demands are at their highest.
Cons
You need to have thick skin in this role. Senior Operations Managers often do not hold back in how they communicate with managers, particularly on weekends. Weekend shifts are the most challenging due to limited HR availability and minimal senior leadership presence. I can only speak for the Midlothian, TX warehouse, but during my eight years there, Operations Manager turnover has been extremely high. In one year alone, the inbound department lost eight Operations Managers under a single Senior Operations Manager. While the compensation is competitive, the work environment can be highly stressful, and managers may experience being talked down to or publicly corrected at times.
