Pros

Good benefits / insurance Relatively flexible hours Fun, smart people at the bottom of the ladder (that usually end up leaving or getting laid off)

Cons

- Politics / Nepotism / Double standards - Toxic culture: TOP managers don't mind racism, sexism, abusive behavior, bullying and sexual harrassment - as long as the job gets done and it doesn't get out in the (other) medias. Btw, HR will make your life worse, so, don't bother. They will tell you to leave before trying to fix anything. - Way too many middle managers that have limited skills and understanding of the field. In some teams there are more bosses than employees. - They don't give a crap about employees - Platforms are constantly getting swapped with no change management. No vision.

Pros

Lots of latitude in my role.

Cons

Not really focused on English Canada. Corporate environment is very toxic -management talks behind employees backs.

Pros

- Amazing, smart colleagues who are so hard working it's crazy. Sadly, the company runs off the backs of these people who are invested and dedicated to doing a good job.

Cons

- All upper management is based out of Quebec and they have zero understanding of the English Canada market. - Completely understaffed and under resourced for the work that needs to be done. - Old, inefficient programs and computers mean things are always breaking and it's difficult to do what you need to do. - Constant layoffs and restructuring (about once a quarter). - With all the turnover, there's a lot of confusion and lost knowledge because people who did specific things are gone, which is maddening. - Horrible offices that are in disrepair and basically crumbling around you. - Everything is run out of the QC office, with poor communication about decisions and direction. - No long-term strategy (other than "let's keep making magazines with less people!). Either oblivious or in denial about what is happening to print magazines. - Company is so so cheap, they don't invest in conferences, holiday parties, team building events, nothing. - They refuse to invest in capital costs for employees to get work done, forcing employees to bring in their own equipment.
