Pros
My colleagues are mostly brilliant (there's always a couple of people who cause problems). TKMAXX is a very accepting company, they employ people from all backgrounds and ethnicities. They also do not descriminate against those with piercings, visible tattoos or unusual hairstyles. I've worked in 2 different stores in 7 years and have worked with a huge variety of different people. That's what I love most about my job.
Cons
I don't feel valued by the company. We don't get bonuses, it seems lately that we get less than we used to, even though year on year sales are up and more stores are opening. We used to get treated with cakes and treats in the staff lounge occasionally, this doesn't happen now. We used to have a monthly draw for gift cards to spend in store, this no longer happens. We used to have uniform provided but around 4/5 years ago the company changed the uniform and we were all told to wear black but we have to provide our own clothes and this can cost a lot because clothes get ruined at work. We didn't get any extra pay or extra store discount to allow for this new rule and I feel we took a paycut. I have worked for the company for 7 years and have never received a reward for my loyalty even though others received £50 meal vouchers since, the company had apparently stopped giving rewards at the time when I earned my 5 year certificate. This is disgustingly unfair in my eyes because there are staff members who have worked with the company for less time than me and they've been rewarded where I haven't and I am supposed to just accept this because I wasn't the only one who suffered this injustice!!
