Pros

Rapidly growing company that's dramatically expanding its product suite. The people at the company are smart and great to work with. There is an actual no-assholes, no backstabbing policy here that was informal which was recently made to be a formal policy! Coming from a background of large companies where everyone was friends right up until they wanted to grab credit for your work or idea so as to get a bonus or promotion, the culture here is like a wooded retreat in comparison. They've been quietly improving their product offering and I admire their practice of getting it awesome before touting it as such in marketing materials. Very different from competitors that claim to be doing the same thing but really cannot match the diligence or intensity with which Synoptos tries. Benefits including flexible, big boy leave policies are awesome.

Cons

Wish it was bigger. As a smaller company, they can only tackle so many new initiatives at a time given most resources for internal projects are allocated to client service. With a boost of capital or a few big new clients though, the company will be in a good place. Middle managers need more formal training in management. They are too dependent on leadership to make decisions.

Pros

One of the best parts of working for this company is the constant drive to improve and innovate, whether that be the technology we’re building or the analysis techniques we’re honing. At some of the companies I’ve worked, the boss hasn’t even known my name. Here, I’m regularly collaborating with my managers, testing the technology that comes from the tech team, and providing feedback that gets integrated into our final products. My coworkers are spread out around the country—and the globe—and the flexibility offered by telework is an invaluable benefit. And, to be perfectly honest, what we do is just plain cool. I have a great deal of pride in what I do, and how we’re able to serve our clients across a ton of different industries. Not everyone gets to say that their job is making the world a better place, but I really believe at Synoptos we are. Every single day I show up to find a new, challenging and meaningful puzzle to work on. It’s never boring, and I’m constantly learning from some of the smartest people I’ve ever met.

Cons

The lone downside that I’ve run into with telework is that it takes more of a concerted effort to make sure everyone is coordinated well on projects than if you were all together in the same conference room. Most of the time we hit that mark, but occasionally the communication-gap can be tricky.
