My advice to anyone looking to enter Synopsys as a BDR, stay far away. Your better to stay unemployed then go into this side of the business. While the company is sound overall and has great long term growth prospects , their security sales team is far from ideal.
- Poor pay relative to comps. Almost 15k less what you would make at other places on a base salary
- Bonus is 1,500 each year. Does not matter if you were the top sales person or the worst one or if the have been with the company for the full fiscal year or three months.
- Hires new SDRS at a higher base rate and refuses to adjust existing employees to the their rate of pay. In essence, new college graduates with no experience are making more then some folks with 1 to 2 yrs within a BDR role.
- New sales director may have had success with BDR orgs at other companies but her approach does not translate to here.
- Sales org has constantly shifted structure. In my 2 yrs there, the structure changed at least 3 times
- New promotion path for a BDR is not to AE its to a CSM. There is a backlog of SDRs and not enough AE are promoted/move on for this to be a viable path
- Micro managed by manager and manger likes to be petty. He is still there watch out
- Lots of wasted time for pointless meetings
- Commission is largely by territory assigned (you have no say in what territory you get)
- if you work at the enterprise level, pray you have good RSMs. Some have big egos and are not willing to help you meet your quota. They make the relationship as if your competitors vs a team.
