Pros
Good pay for the area, excellent co-workers, sometimes interesting projects. We had cake once.
Cons
There is no human resources department to speak of in this incredibly small company- the owner of the company is also the manager. Communication failure from management is a regular occurrence, leading to frustration of employees. Unnecessary spending of grant money is commonplace. Suspicious micromanagement is the only form of management, though manager often shows ineptitude regarding project procedures. If a mistake caused by manager comes to light from clients, manager will often throw employees under the bus in an attempt to save her own reputation. Employees often spend a great deal of time formulating requests for time off, carefully choosing words and time frames to limit the possibility of dismissal. Management has often granted time off only to terminate employment shortly before the time off, or shortly thereafter.
No possibility for upward mobility in the company, no real benefits offered. In general, a very grim place to work.
