Pros
Amazing industry Amazing customers Interesting technology A lot to learn and upskill
Cons
Company is sinking and is kind just… fine with it? Any suggestions, regardless of how good the reasoning or justification is met with deaf ears or “sorry… no budget” If you are an international colleague, you will be ignored, left on read and be made the last priority regardless of how competent you are. Management know less than subordinates regarding industry, customer base and technology. They will make decisions with no heads up or prior comms with you and expect you to pick up the pieces. Sales team and commercial team are just floundering… Not really due to a lack of effort on their part but they just don’t get the industry or know how to close a sale really. That being said, most of the competent commercial team members have left, not much faith in the remaining crew. No new feature or product is met with a marketing campaign either, new products that were meant to revitalise the company aren’t even announced on any platform… Despite being an industry populated and filled with a generation of people who grew up on video games and current pop culture, the company is lead by people you constantly have to explain the relevance of any company, game, film or person to. And often make decisions that make painfully clear they don’t know what they’re about and that they didn’t listen to you. Expect no growth or development plan. Be very careful joining as you will plateau in terms of business skills very quickly as management has no interest in upskilling you ( Well, they do but they don’t know how…) You will be messaged, emailed and called around the clock regardless of hours - you will have StretchSense in the mind 24/7 No attempts to retain staff and make sure they’re valued - raises are penny pinched and performance has 0 contribution to your salary (employees know this and work accordingly)
