Pros

- Most of the team is really awesome, and cares about the product and the rest of the team. - NY real estate is awesome!

Cons

- Nothing gets done: it's all talk and no walk. The team is paralyzed by poor leadership and internal politics. - StreetEasy is treated like a 2nd class citizen to its parent company Zillow.

Thank you for your feedback. We had an incredible year, delivering 2x growth for all the KPIs we use to measure StreetEasy's success so I am surprised to hear "it's all talk". Of course we always want to do more and better, but what we achieved, especially for such a small team, was fantastic. I hope we do 3x in 2016! We have so much autonomy from Zillow Group and the ability to run our business specifically for the NYC market. It is like nothing I have seen at other companies and it is one of the reasons I love my job so much - we are trusted and in full control. I have never been a sugar-coater and have tried to build a culture and leadership team that makes tough decisions, and calls it like they see it, but that is definitely something we can work more on moving forward. I do hope you share your views with your current manager as that is the way to see the most change. Susan Daimler GM, StreetEasy

Pros

Next to restaurants, if there's one other thing on New Yorkers' minds, it's real estate. So, being part of a company whose goal is to make real estate information easier to access and understand for jaded New Yorkers is pretty cool. Whenever I say I work at StreetEasy, everyone's eyes light up and they say, "I love StreetEasy!" Or, "I used StreetEasy to find my apartment!" New Yorkers have a pretty universal feeling about StreetEasy, which is extremely positive. So, it feels good to work at a company that actually helps people's lives. Also, I'm happy to be working on a small team (around 100-ish) that is collaborative and accessible. Since the team is small, everyone's role is critical. No room for prima donnas. The company's leader (Susan Daimler) is dynamic and smart. She brings good energy to the office and people believe in her direction. Everyone is given the freedom to be creative. There is no micro-managing at all. The executive team seems pretty solid. The office is in a cool loft-like setting in the Flatiron area. Everyone has a standup desk and lunch is brought in each Tuesday. Everyone seems to keep different hours, which is cool that people are allowed to choose their hours and make their work/life cycle agreeable. A few people arrive early in the morning (8-ish), then the bulk of the team arrives around 9:30 -- some as late as 10 am, but they stay until 7-ish. Overall, a really great company to work for -- I highly recommend it!

Cons

Nothing yet. I haven't been here for more than a few months, so perhaps I'll have something more to say in the "cons" section.
