Pros

The clinical team selected for hire at SFC was/is top notch. The position offered scheduling autonomy, excellent flexibility, and tons of paid training opportunities. The environment was highly collaborative. Clinicians frequently offer support to one another. Working with the client population served there was highly rewarding and personally fulfilling as a professional.

Cons

The high standards for clinicians (or potential hires), does not match the salary and benefits offered. This job is primarily suited to pre-licensed professionals, because if a licensed applicant meets SFC standards for hire, they can most certainly make 8-15K more, annually, somewhere else. At times, the agency seemed to prioritize tangible productivity over employee well-being, which is ultimately what led to my departure. To meet the agency’s standards, clinicians often worked unpaid overtime.

Pros

I have worked at Steps For Change since July of 2017. Steps For Change has a strong and collaborative team that is constantly working to learn and grow by incorporating current research into our work. In the past I have worked places where my opinions were not taken into consideration and overlooked. At Steps For Change, I feel valued as a member of the team and any opinions I are valued and discussed. Not to mention working with our clientele is a fun and sometimes challenging experience.

Cons

As most of our clientele are in school during the day, it does require us to meet with them outside of school hours which can make later evenings... but then you don't have to wake up super early either :). Also due to the clientele we work with, there is a significant amount of paperwork to complete as we need to continually report on progress to the court.
