Lots to say here, sadly. An open and often vocal disdain for a reasonable work/life balance on the part of the owner/president, unreasonable workloads and schedules (some analysts have to work 6 days a week year round and in the "busy season" 12 hour days are demanded), and arbitrary decision making that creates a culture of fear, uncertainly, and apprehension within the company. Morale was incredibly low when I left and had been getting progressively worse for some time. Basically no on was happy, so I can't imagine who wrote these recent 5 star reviews. An obvious case of review padding which tells you more about this company and how it is managed. Compensation is not competitive for the area and and there is a very low ceiling in terms of opportunities for advancement. With the current job climate in the DC area, you can certainly do better than this place and you should definitely keep looking unless you enjoy working 6 days weeks and being worked like a rented mule.
The nature of this small company is that you're at the mercy of the president who exerts total control over every decision that is made. Your only options are to suffer through it or jump ship at the first opportunity.
