Pros
The department where I worked was transformation in light of the pressures of the pandemic. The last few years as much as it was a very difficult time for the department and they worked very hard to deal with an ever changing 1 in 100 year event. However the silver lining was wonderful changes to operations and systems in a very short time frame. I have worked with some very talented and knowledgeable people who are dedicated to Public service and to the Victorian community.
Cons
Some of the senior management in the area I worked for need to have a better grasp of IT technology and Agile processes. Also getting large project off the ground can still be very cumbersome although some improvements have been made. The government is also offering micro credentials to all employees and with early retirement program that will hopefully help create more opportunities for new managers with these skills.
