Pros
- You get to work with dogs
- The facility is very nice. They offer a lot of good things for dogs and lots of cool programs
- You get to play with dogs, which is really relaxing and fun
- The coworkers were nice
Cons
- Lots of hours, there were times where I worked 50 hours a week while being in college
- It's hot, but thats to be expected
- It's a lot of physically demanding work, I actually broke my foot and strained ligaments
- It's very exhausting, I would go home and immediately go to sleep
- Pay is very low. I was told I would be paid 8.00 but was actually paid 7.75, which was a bit insulting, I'm a senior in college majoring in animal science and I have had internships at vets, worked at other dog kennels, etc. I was easily the most experienced employee
- Management didn't distribute work evenly
- Almost no communication, got written up for not doing something I was specifically told not to do
Basically, it's a normal kennel tech job. Being a kennel tech is hard and physically demanding, most people don't last very long. However, as a kennel, this was probably the nicest facility i've worked at.
