Pros
During my time at Standard, I was exposed to several phases of both design and construction. My experience in project management and construction administration has been especially valuable in moving forward. The principals are very talented in design, detailing, and specification - working with them provides a good foundation for those who want to learn. I felt a strong responsibility over projects and worked closely with all parties involved (subs and contractors, client, consultants, etc). The principals listened to my thoughts and worked with me on how to make the best of my time there, and they are still valuable mentors for me after employment. Added benefits: the area around the office is great; employees are talented and easy to get along with; salary, raises, and benefits are very competitive.
Cons
Not a con, but a disclaimer: designers that will do well here are self-motivated, driven to learn, resourceful, and have good foresight. You have to handle responsibility and take initiative.
