Some good brands and products

Cons

Same people going in circles, can’t make a decision - no forward thinking or strategic approach. Have been successful due to brand portfolio after they were established to handle sales, marketing, and distribution for many of the brands that were previously with Beam Suntory Australia brands , already firmly embedded with retailers and consumers- backed by large international liquor brand. Seem to reward toxic behaviour and very much ‘jobs for the boys’ . Leadership has resigned then returned , no clear stewardship. Many imposters with superiority complex within middle management. Overall lack of trust and flexibility, run hierarchically. Have been on a few trips and celebrations which all for show, trying to force a culture when actions are the opposite.

Pros

If you’re looking for a paycheck and a title, this might suit you. There are a few genuinely good people who try to do the right thing, but they don’t stay long. Some of the brands still have potential, but they’re being mismanaged

Cons

The team is largely composed of employees who were not retained by the new Suntory Global Spirits entity, individuals effectively “moved on” or deemed “no longer required.” Seizing the moment, they promoted themselves into roles / titles well beyond their experience, opportunistically clinging to brands Suntory Global had exited. What began as a group of self-proclaimed “chosen” employees has since imploded. They’ve turned on some of their own founding members driving out the very leaders who once gave them legitimacy. Loyalty within this group is purely transactional , you’re useful until you’re not. Meanwhile, a small inner clique remains untouchable, protected regardless of performance or ability. A quick look at public reviews tells the story…..every negative review is soon followed by an overly glowing one, clearly written to drown out criticism and prop up their image. The company continues to surround itself with industry relics, smooth talkers who can spin a good story but deliver little substance. Constantly taking about growth that never eventuates. It’s a culture of pretenders, not performers, one built on perception, not merit. Now, with the majority shareholders injecting even more of the liquor industry’s “dead wood” into key roles, with new titles and structure it’s clear where this is heading. Within a few years, these opportunists aim to take all the C level roles completely as current C level wind down. What’s left is a business weighed down by self-interest, a collection of bottom feeders clinging to inflated titles, easy money, and borrowed prestige they could never earn in truly professional and respectful organisation. Unfortunately the amazing heritage brands they represent are not being well represented or growing amongst the competitive landscape.
