Pros

It was a job and the people are mostly quite nice. They make sure you have the equipment you need in order to do your job.

Cons

The biggest con is that the company does not care about its employees, only about the corporation. In fact, a direct quote from the CEO after terminating employees was "it's not what you have done for the company, but what you are going to do for the company." Despite hearing this, I still do approve of Jeff, the CEO. I thought he was a fair leader. Over the years there have been numerous layoffs at the company. At some point people start to wonder how secure their job is. I know I did on numerous occasions. I voluntarily left, but there were many times when I wondered if I would have a job the next day. The pay was way low, as you can see from other reviews of Spectrum. That's probably the second biggest con. Benefit cost is also pretty high. They are a small company with a huge conglomerate corporation mentality. I also felt way overworked and over stressed here. I felt tethered to my email, like I was living to work instead of working to live. I could go on with cons... I felt that there were many more cons to working here than there were pros. My advice to future employees is this: only work there if you are desperate for a job, or you need a stepping stone into your career. That's about all working here is worth in my opinion.

Pros

Employee Ownership, remnants of what used to be a great culture still remain. Good 401K matching schedule. Ability to come in whenever you choose, no set working hours. Typical day for staff starts whenever they choose.

Cons

Poor leadership starting at the top. What used to be a structured environment is now the wild west of management and execution. The processes and procedures either are non existent or when they exist are simply ignored. Strategic planning does not exist. Employees find out the corporate direction in a newsletter. Vacation benefit is below par and below companies in the same trade space. Poor performance by corporate employees is either ignored or unknown to management. Pay cuts enacted for senior management to resolve financial shortfalls within the company, yet, investments for poorly planned and poorly performing sales initiatives go on. This company has continued to throw good money after bad ideas. A very demoralized staff.
